GFD - Mock Drunk Driving MVA slide show (53)
Grandview Fire Department, along with Grandview Police Department, LifeFlight, WA. State Patrol, Prosser Ambulance, and the Yakima County Coroner, staged a simulated fatality MVA at Grandview High School on May 21, 2010. "Victims", members of the leadership class at GHS, acted out the scenario of a drunk driver running a stop sign and T-boning another student's car. There was one "fatality", one transported by ambulance, and one airlifted from the scene, while the "drunk driver" was arrested on scene. The event was held on the day before their school's Prom, in hopes of making students think twice before drinking and driving.

Yakima County Fire District #5 firefighters on scene at an ultralight aircraft crash at the Buena Airstrip, near Wapato, Washington. Pilot was reportedly practicing 'touch-and-go' landings when his aircraft stalled, causing it to do a nose dive into the pasture at the end of the runway.

Yakima County's Technical Rescue Team were called into action on 6/21/10 to rescue a man who had fallen 35 ft. down into an empty water tower. The man, who was inspecting the tank, had to be removed using a pulley system through the roof of the tower. Departments involved were Yakima Fire, East Valley, Union Gap, and Yakima Training Center.
